Summer Retreat Yoga Room

Before you book the retreat, you should be ready to…

– Not use your phone (or other electronics) for 7 days
– Not talk during meals
– Keep silence for 2.5 days at the end of the course (no talking, reading, or writing – you are welcome to draw/paint and be as creative as you like during the silence)
– Do Karma Yoga daily – help out for 1.5 hours per day with practical tasks around the retreat center
– Respect the course guidelines – attend the teachings 4 times per day and follow the full program throughout the entire course

Because all of this has a purpose—that is why it’s called a retreat.

You step away from what you’re used to and give yourself a break from everything you normally do in your daily life.

I, Vigyana, have personally lived at a yoga and meditation retreat center for 8 years. I have both taught at many retreats and supported many courses behind the scenes, and I know that all of the above is absolutely possible.

Without a phone & internet for 7 days

A 7-day yoga retreat is also a retreat from all the digital things you usually use in your daily life.

You are asked to put away your phone and all other electronic devices, including digital watches and smartwatches.

(Note: To wake up in the morning and arrive on time for classes, please bring a simple analog alarm clock. It should ideally be small and quiet, something you can keep in your pocket and take with you on walks in nature.)

Being without digital distractions helps you go much deeper into yoga and meditation and allows you to focus fully on yourself and your physical and mental well-being.

There will be plenty happening during the 7-day retreat, so you don’t need to worry about being bored.

Four yoga and meditation sessions per day, walks in nature, dips in the lake, sauna, social time with others, and daily karma yoga all support your well-being in the best possible way.

Please inform your loved ones that you will be away for 7 days and completely offline, and that you won’t be reachable during that time.

(In case of an emergency at home, your family can always contact me, the yoga teacher Vigyana, during the retreat.)

What is Karma Yoga?

Every day after morning yoga and breakfast, we will all do about 1.5 hours of karma yoga.

When you practice so much yoga, meditation, and relaxation every day (four times a day), you will likely feel quite refreshed and energized. That’s why it’s wonderful to include a bit of karma yoga during the day, so you have the opportunity to use this energy by doing something practical together with the other participants.

Karma yoga is a concept coming from the yoga tradition and means “the yoga of action” or “selfless service.”

It’s about doing something wholeheartedly without expecting anything in return, and being fully present in whatever you’re doing.

At a retreat, this usually means helping out with simple, practical tasks like assisting with cooking, helping with dishes, cleaning, or gardening. These activities might seem ordinary, but the intention behind them is what matters.

Instead of thinking about what you get out of it, you focus on doing the task with awareness, care, and a sense of contribution.

In this way, Karma Yoga becomes a kind of meditation in action, where even everyday work is part of your inner practice.

This small activity also helps bring the group a little closer together, so that you will never feel left out or alone.

Silence during the retreat

At the end of our retreat, we will have 2.5 days of silence, during which you do not speak, read, or write anything.

Before we enter this deep silence, you will “practice” being quiet in shorter periods in different situations.

For example, we sometimes have short silent breaks between classes. We do not talk during meals, we don’t chat about life during karma yoga (but we focus and being present on the task), and we also keep silence in the yoga room during classes (except for the teacher, who needs to give instructions).

By the time it is time for the 2.5 days of silence, it will not feel difficult or strange, but actually very natural and calming.

Vigyana, the teacher at the retreat, will be speaking throughout the course and will give you a thorough introduction to the silence. You will feel safe and supported, and will even look forward to not speaking for a few days — simply being.

The silence will give you both more calmness and energy at the same time, and help you go even deeper into your yoga and meditation practice towards the end of the course.

Yoga & Meditation Courses with Vigyana in Malmö

Vigyana´s goal is to offer you an outstanding experience of yoga & meditation.

Taking part in a yoga and meditation course with Vigyana is an exciting and developing process where every lesson offers something new.

We begin with basic yoga and then slowly build up with more dynamic and deeper yoga postures (called Asanas).

The effect of a yoga program (which usually takes about 1h) is strengthened with breathing exercises – Pranayamas and deepened with relaxation Yoga Nidra, and meditations such as The Source of Energy, Inner Stillness.

After such a pleasant yoga & meditation lesson, you feel soft and relaxed in the body and clear in the mind. You generally experience more harmony and energy within yourself.

The yoga teacher Vigyana has more than 20 years of teaching experience and she can always help all her students in the best way, so you are in safe hands.

All lessons can also be attended via Zoom.
